About me.
Nayibe Tavares-Abel, Dominican filmmaker of Palestinian and Lebanese origin, based in Costa Rica.

Before pursuing a Filmmaking degree at the Altos de Chavón School of Design (Dominican Republic) in 2017, she studied Political Science and French Language in Michigan (2011) and Paris (2013).
​
With extensive experience in the film industry, she has worked for major players such as Lionsgate, Netflix, Nickelodeon, and Paramount in the AD and props departments.
​
“COLOSAL”, her directorial debut, had its world premiere at Berlinale 2025, in the Forum section, and has been an official selection for Cinéma Du Réel (Paris), HotDocs (Toronto) and Sheffield DocFest (UK).

Nayibe focuses on producing non-fiction and experimental films on social issues, history and geneaology.

Cinema Costanera is an up-and-coming production company based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Detroit, Michigan (USA).
Founded in 2023 by Nayibe Tavares-Abel and Isabelle Tavares, we specialize in films with a focus on genealogy, social history and climate change.
